A test platform helps you recreate wireless conditions to test 6G, Wi-Fi 7/8, satellite, drone, and sensing networks.
VIAVI Solutions has upgraded its Vertex channel emulation platform to support testing requirements for emerging wireless technologies, including 6G and Wi-Fi 7/8. Vertex 6.0 supports up to 400 MHz of instantaneous bandwidth and carrier frequencies up to 23.6 GHz, allowing engineers to reproduce RF propagation conditions for next-generation wireless systems in the laboratory.
The platform can be configured with field-replaceable RF modules that fit existing 6U Vertex chassis. It extends the previous generation’s 5G FR1 and FR2 capabilities with channel emulation for cellular, Wi-Fi, military, and aerospace RF applications.
Vertex 6.0 can also be combined with VIAVI’s FR3 MIMO converter and ray-tracing capabilities for Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC). This allows RF propagation conditions to be represented as a digital twin in the lab for testing applications such as FR3, Wi-Fi 7, AI-RAN, and ISAC.
A 6U Vertex chassis provides 36 RF ports, 256 digital links, and up to 1.6 GHz of bandwidth. For cellular testing, the system supports FR3 bands with up to 1 GHz of bandwidth, along with multiuser (MU) MIMO with phase alignment and both TDD and FDD operation.
For Wi-Fi 7 and Wi-Fi 8, Vertex 6.0 supports channel widths up to 320 MHz and 4096 QAM, with configurations from 2×2 to 8×8. The platform can emulate land-to-land, land-to-air, and air-to-air links, as well as RF conditions in anechoic and reverberation OTA chambers.
The channel emulation capabilities also cover non-terrestrial networks using LEO, MEO, and GEO satellites, along with mesh, drone, and ISAC network scenarios. The upgrade is the first Vertex release since VIAVI acquired Spirent Communications’ high-speed Ethernet, network security, and channel emulation testing business.
