The nubia NaviX Ultra, the brand’s AI agentic phone, is now official. The phone is built around the Doubao Mobile Assistant, which supports deep reasoning, self-correction, extended-context adherence and generalization. Okay, that might be confusing if you are not deep into AI.
Deep reasoning means that the AI can create a plan that splits a complex task into simpler sub-tasks. Divide and conquer, basically. Self-correction allows the AI to recover a task that ran into unexpected problems. AI models can drift off when running long tasks, extended-context adherence helps keep Doubao on track. Generalization allows it to use knowledge from one app to tackle a previously unseen problem.
The nubia NaviX Ultra has designated the fingerprint-equipped button as the AI key. You can tap it to get a prompt window. Long press and it goes into voice command mode. Double tap starts a “video call” with the AI so that you can use the phone’s cameras to show it something. Doubao is a multi-modal AI, so it can handle text, images, audio and video.
There is a continuous dialogue mode, which is currently in beta. This allows a more back-and-forth conversation with the AI for more complex tasks. For long-running tasks, there is a widget that helps you track the phone’s progress. Also, you can give the AI more work to do and it will intelligently shuffle its work queue – of course, you can also manually assign priority to important tasks.
The AI works with third-party apps and can even call the APIs of online services. This includes Lark (a fully featured team collaboration suite), CaoCao Mobility (a Chinese robo-taxi company), the phone’s map app, online music services and so on. The AI can also handle incoming calls (including following response scripts), transcribe your voice notes, search your screenshots, recognize products on your screen and more.
Okay, enough about AI, let’s look at the phone itself. The nubia NaviX Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and comes in 12GB/512GB, 16GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB configurations (LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage). The phone launches with Android 16 out of the box instead of 17, but it has Nebula AIOS 2 on top.

The nubia NaviX Ultra is available on ZTE’s online store in China. The base 12GB/512GB model costs CNY 6,000 – this converts to $895 / £665 / €775 / ₹85,800. The 16GB/512GB version gets you 4 extra gigs of RAM for CNY 500 more. The top-specced 16GB/1TB model costs CNY 7,500.
