Disney Parks shared a sneak peek at the distinctly patriotic treats coming to Disneyland later this month for the America 250th celebration, including a Sam Eagle popcorn bucket and red, white and blue dishes & desserts. Here’s a rundown of the snacks for the United States Semiquincentennial. (Say that ten times fast…or even once!)
In case you missed it, these snacks are part of the “Disney Celebrates America” campaign, which is the company-wide once-in-a-lifetime celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the United States. The Semiquincentennial event started on Veterans Day 2025 and continues through the Fourth of July 2026 weekend to honor America’s past, celebrate the present, and inspire its future.
As America’s preeminent storyteller, Disney will help bring the semiquincentennial to life by celebrating the dreams, stories, and optimism that have inspired generations. From sports and entertainment to travel and tourism, Disney encourages families everywhere to explore, learn and discover the diverse lands, and vibrant communities that make up our shared story.
If you didn’t even realize that “Disney Celebrates America” is a thing, you’re not alone. Outside of references to the special event in announcements about Soarin’ Across America and new military discounts, not much has been shared since it supposedly started last November. We expect that to change to some degree this summer, especially as Independence Day draws nearer and excitement builds for America250.
In any case, both Walt Disney World and Disneyland will feature in “Disney Celebrates America,” and one such way is snacks on both coasts. Here’s a rundown of what Disneyland just revealed:

If you’re familiar with this website, you know the only reason this post exists is to do my civic duty and share the distinctly patriotic Sam Eagle bucket offering a ‘salute to all snacks, but mostly popcorn.’
I’m not normally a popcorn bucket person, but might make an exception for this. After all, not buying it might be distinctly unpatriotic. I can’t have that hanging over my head.
Frankly, I’d prefer the exact same design, but as a gigantic ceramic mug or stein. Drinking a gallon of apple cider out of Sam Eagle’s head? Now that would truly be distinctly patriotic! (Although this massive mug does not yet exist, there actually is a growing line of Sam Eagle distinctly patriotic merchandise that’s been released over the last year or so, including a few new-to-me items that I’ve spotted within the last couple of weeks.)

The sweet treats look fine, I guess, but not for me. Loaded with sugar, artificial colors and flavors–so check, check, and check on being distinctly American dishes.
What I’d love to see are some absolute culinary abominations to celebrate America. A burger the size of my head, stuffed with hot dogs, potato chips, and seventeen types of cheeses. A kitchen sink nacho sundae. The kinds of nonsense that would send a shiver down the spine of my doctor. Now that is the essence of American cuisine!
I’m under the impression that more Americana-inspired dishes are coming to both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. And for those who are worried, I’d expect the Sam Eagle popcorn bucket to be Florida-bound, as well. (Walt Disney World gets Soarin’ Across America first, and Disneyland gets the Sam Eagle popcorn bucket…feels fair.) In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s enough distinctly patriotic dishes and novelty items for fully-fledged food guides for both coasts.
Beyond that massive Sam Eagle mug, my other big wish list entry is Walt Disney World bringing back “The Muppets Present…Great Moments in American History.” That show in Liberty Square was criminally underrated, and that area of the park could use a shot in the arm given all of the construction nearby. We’d also settle for the Muppets once again doing a show from the Omnibus at Disneyland. Or here’s a thought: why not both?!

Disney Celebrates America Details
To mark the occasion, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort will celebrate coast-to-coast, anchored by the Summer 2026 opening of Soarin’ Across America, which will take guests on a breathtaking journey, highlighting some of the country’s natural beauty and iconic cityscapes.
Soarin’ Across America officially opens on May 26, 2026 at EPCOT. Prior to that, Annual Passholders can preview Soarin’ Across America May 19-20, 2026. Our expectation is that it soft opens over Memorial Day weekend.
Meanwhile, Soarin’ Across America doesn’t take flight at Disney California Adventure until July 2, 2026. That was announced a while ago with no updates since, but our expectation nevertheless is lengthy previews at Disneyland.

“Disney Celebrates America” will culminate over the weekend of July 4, 2026 with a 24-hour, multi-platform broadcast that highlights the United States Semiquincentennial events nationwide across Disney’s linear networks and streaming platforms, including Disney+, Hulu, ABC, Disney Channel, ESPN, Freeform, FX and National Geographic, ending with a special evening fireworks broadcast from Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.
David Muir, anchor and managing editor of “World News Tonight with David Muir,” will lead the daylong coverage and be joined by ABC News anchors and correspondents, iconic ESPN commentators, and National Geographic Explorers reporting from across the country for this once-in-a-lifetime presentation featuring top entertainers, athletes, explorers, and historians – all coming together to spotlight the wonder, achievements, and dreams that define the American spirit.
As part of the United States Semiquincentennial celebration, the beloved fireworks show “Disney’s Celebrate America! — A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky,” will play across all three nights of the holiday weekend, July 3-5, 2026, at both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom.

There will be other special events and offerings as part of “Disney Celebrates America” with relevance to Walt Disney World and Disneyland fans:
In June 2026, ABC News Studios will present a two-hour primetime special that journeys through the heart of our nation – where the real-life spirit of iconic locales like New Orleans and the American frontier comes alive through the beloved lands of Disney Parks, connecting audiences to the extraordinary people, places, histories, and traditions that make America unique.
There’s also new special military-inspired assortment is now available at select locations across Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, while supplies last. More Americana merchandise, including select items commemorating America’s milestone anniversary, will be available for purchase at Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort, and DisneyStore.com starting this month.

Ultimately, it’s good to see the Walt Disney Company undertaking the “Disney Celebrates America” campaign. My hope is that this sneak peek at the Sam Eagle popcorn bucket and distinctly patriotic snacks means WDW and DLR are gearing up to reveal more that’s in store starting in late May and culminating around Independence Day. Because as excited as we were about the prospect of “Disney Celebrates America,” there really hasn’t been much to it yet.
We can’t wait to see what else is in store for the celebration beyond Soarin’ Across America and the big Independence Day weekend spectaculars, but hope it’s significant. This whole “Disney Celebrates America” for the 250th Anniversary of the United States has the potential to unify and offer a pleasant reprieve from the polarization, similar to how the parks already bring together people from all walks of life in the first place.
