OnePlus announced the Ace 7 series, comprising two phones: the Ace 7 and the Ace 7 Pro. Some believe that the vanilla Ace 7 is going to be rebadged as the OnePlus 16R for markets outside of China. The party trick of the two phones is that they feature fans to keep the powerful chipsets running cooler during long gaming sessions. After all, the Ace 7 series are gaming-oriented devices.
Let’s start with the OnePlus Ace 7 Pro, which is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset paired with either 12GB or 16GB of RAM. The available storage options start at 256GB and cap at 1TB, which will be appreciated by hardcore gamers.
The display is clocked at 185Hz, although this refresh rate can be achieved only when playing select games that support it. For normal daily use or standard apps, the refresh rate caps at 165Hz. The screen itself is 6.78″ in diagonal, and it uses an LTPO panel, meaning granular refresh rate control from 1Hz to 165Hz is possible.

OnePlus didn’t overlook the camera department. The phone comes with a 200MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture, while the telephoto unit uses a 50MP sensor and an f/2.8 lens with 3.5x optical zoom. The selfie camera offers 16MP resolution and f/2.4 aperture. Interestingly enough, there’s no ultrawide camera, probably due to size constraints. They had to make room for the fan.
Speaking of, the fan has an interesting dual-airflow design, meaning it has two air intakes and two grilles for dispersing the hot air. Also, the vent openings are positioned on the protruding camera island, which is an unorthodox approach. Phones with a similar feature, like the RedMagic phones, for example, have their vents positioned on the side frame.
OnePlus Ace 7 and Ace 7 Pro cooling system
Anyway, the Ace 7 Pro draws power from a massive 9,000 mAh battery and supports up to 100W charging using Oppo’s proprietary SuperVOOC standard.
The front panels on both phones are protected by Crystal Shield Glass, the backs are made of glass-fiber reinforced plastic, while the middle frame is metal-clad. Despite the cooling fan, the device carries four ingress protection certifications – IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K.
The available colors for the Ace 7 Pro are Black, White and what appears to be light Blue. The starting price is CNY 4,799 (~$715) for the entry-level 12GB/256GB memory configuration.

And as for the Ace 7, it’s essentially the same device with some minor downgrades. Most notably, the chipset is the toned-down version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 called Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V series. It’s the same chipset with the same powerful CPU, but the GPU is split into two slices and has less dedicated memory, and thus lower overall performance.
Additionally, the telephoto camera is swapped out for an 8MP ultrawide camera, and the cooling fan skips the bi-directional airflow.
This adjustment brings down the price to CNY 4,399 (~$655) for the 12GB/256GB model, while the available colors are Black, White and a gradient paint job that seemingly goes from gray to gold-ish.
