The results from last week’s poll are in – the OnePlus 16 might have been a global hit, had the company pulled out of most markets. The brand is still strong and even the value proposition is strong, despite the higher than usual price for the 16 (and for every other new phone on the market, to be fair).
The OnePlus 16 is so good, in fact, that a surprising number of voters are thinking of importing one. Folks in India – which is the only other country besides China that will get an official release – are also quite interested.
And the largest group of voters (nearly a third) is people who are interested but don’t want to go through the hassle of importing a unit from overseas. Even the launch of the Oppo Find X10 series didn’t deter people – the OnePlus 16 is a great phone.

The price is quite high – we still don’t know how much it will cost in India, but we do know that even the base 12GB/256GB model costs more (CNY 6,000) than the maxed-out 16GB/1TB OnePlus 15 cost last year (CNY 5,400). And only around 12% of people said that the price is crazy. That’s about as many people as those looking at other flagships.
It’s probably too late to change course and bring OnePlus back to the global stage. This leaves Oppo, which was always the more premium, more expensive brand, and Realme, which didn’t even launch a GT-series flagship this year, to pick up the slack.
