“When will Walt Disney World announce 2026 dates for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party?” and “why haven’t tickets for MVMCP gone on sale yet?” are common questions. We’ll try to answer given historical release dates, while also making predictions about pricing, start & end dates, number of event dates and more.
Fair warning: this is informed by historical data, but it is still a speculative post at its core. No one can give you a definitive answer about when Walt Disney World will announce 2026 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates or tickets. The same holds true for pretty much anything that hasn’t been officially announced, released internally, or leaked.
If you only want confirmed dates & details, you won’t find that here. Consider instead subscribing to our free email newsletter for instant alerts, which will provide you an immediate update when 2026 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates are officially announced by Walt Disney World.
Since returning in 2022, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party has been announced during “Halfway to the Holidays” between mid-June and mid-July. “Halfway to the Holidays” went on hiatus last year, but we view that as an anomaly given that “Halfway to Halloween” already returned in 2026.
No matter how or when the 2026 MVMCP announcement is made, I’d further predict that tickets will go on presale a week after the announcement and once again be staggered for on-site and off-site guests to create a sense of urgency and perhaps demand for on-site accommodations.
With that high-level overview out of the way, let’s dig into the historical precedent…

Last year, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates and details were announced on July 9th.
We’d note that this was slightly later than the new-normal established in the couple of years prior. Last year was a bit of an anomaly, as the delay of Disney Starlight Night Parade had a ripple effect that impacted other offerings and announcements, including both MNSSHP and MVMCP.
It’s worth noting that the 2026 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party marked a return to normal, with dates announced on April 28th versus May 12th last year. That’s exactly two weeks earlier in 2026 than 2025, suggesting something similar for the 2026 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party unveiling.

Guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels could begin purchasing Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party tickets as early as July 16, 2025. All other Guests may purchase tickets beginning on July 22, 2025.
The 2025 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party was on the following nights:
- November – 7, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21, 25, 26, 28, and 30
- December – 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19, and 21
Event tickets were $169 to $229 per ticket, plus tax (prices vary by event date).

Potentially more instructive is when 2024 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates and details were announced.
That announcement came on June 24, 2024. On-site guests could purchase MVMCP tickets as early as July 2, 2024. All other Guests may purchase tickets beginning on July 10, 2024.
The 2024 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party was held on the following nights:
- November – 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22, 24, 26, 27 and 29
- December – 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19 and 20

Walt Disney World announced 2023 MVMCP dates and details on June 15th. Tickets went on sale starting June 29, 2023 for on-site guests and July 6, 2023 for off-site guests.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party was held on 25 select nights that year, from November 9 through December 22, 2023.
In our view, the 2023-2024 dates set better precedent for a 2026 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party announcement than last year. The previous two years were “normal,” whereas Starlight threw a surprising monkey wrench. As you can see, we are already in the timeframe of when an announcement could be expected based on those two years!

For those keeping score at home, here’s the timing of when Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates and details were announced over the course of the last decade:
- 2017: Announced on April 6; ticket sales started on May 10.
- 2018: Announced March 19; ticket sales also started March 19.
- 2019: Announced April 8; ticket sales started same day.
- 2020: COVID closure.
- 2021: Disney Very Merriest After Hours was announced as a replacement for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on August 13; ticket sales started August 17 for on-site resort guests and August 20 for the general public. (Phased reopening anomaly–everything was last minute.)
In 2022, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party made its triumphant return, which was announced on June 23. Tickets went on sale beginning June 30 for on-site resort guests and July 7 for the general public.
The 2022 MVMCP started on November 8th and ran until December 22nd. It is fair to also consider this precedent for 2026 MVMCP dates.

As you can see from the range of release dates above, when Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party tickets go on sale each year varies. If you throw out the obvious anomaly of 2021 during the phased reopening, and anything prior to the 2020 COVID closure ‘reset’ as stale, we have a much narrower date range.
The good news is that a trend has emerged in the post-reopening era with the “Halfway to Holidays” week to build anticipation and excitement for spook season. As for precisely when “Halfway to the Holidays” is likely to happen, our best guess is anytime between right now and July 14, 2026.
One thing to note here is that “Halfway to Halloween” was teased over a weekend, and then the announcement came on the following Tuesday. If you look back at past announcement dates, most of them were on Tuesdays. Some were later in the week, but those were usually accompanied by a tease earlier. And as of Tuesday, June 16, 2026, that hasn’t happened.

Prediction: 2026 MVMCP Announced Next Tuesday
Based on the totality of the circumstances, our prediction is a “Halfway to the Holidays” tease between this Friday and next Monday, followed by an announcement of 2026 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. An announcement on Wednesday or Thursday is possible, but less likely.
Of course, the following Tuesday or the one after that (June 30, 2026 and July 7, 2026) are also with the realm of possibility, but those also bookend Independence Day. Beyond Tuesday releases, it is also typical for Walt Disney World to have a “good news blockout” in the weeks around holidays, not wanting announcements to be overshadowed.
With this being the U.S. Semiquincentennial, I’d hazard a guess that there’s more reticence than normal to make an announcement in that two-week window. But that’s just a guess! (“Taking out the trash” is a totally different story, so don’t be surprised if there’s negative news during that window.)

Prediction: MVMCP Starts Earlier Than Ever
As for the event itself, our prediction is that the 2026 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will start on or around November 6, 2026 and continue several nights per week until around December 20, 2026.
If this is accurate, it would be the earliest start date ever for MVMCP. Last year’s event started on November 7th, which tied 2016 for the earliest start. All years in between have seen November 8th or 9th opening nights.
However, it is worth noting that the 2026 MNSSHP is setting a new record (also by one night), and the November 6, 2026 start date is strongly supported by recent precedent when taking into account day of the week. Even though this would be earlier than ever, that’s simply because the first feasible Friday in November is earlier this year than past years.

Prediction: 25+ Party Nights
It wouldn’t surprise us if Walt Disney World tries to squeeze-in another night or two in the final week, especially with Christmas falling on a Friday this year and crowd levels being lower that week last year.
They might be able to get away with a final Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on Tuesday, December 22, 2026. I wouldn’t be against that, whereas I would bet against a party prior to Friday, November 6, 2026. The turnaround time after Halloween makes that tougher. Even that date might be a too tight a target!
Given that, we wouldn’t be surprised if 2026 is the year that number of MVMCP increases from 25 to 26-27 parties. Thanksgiving week isn’t as busy as it once was and Christmas is on a Friday. That might present the opportunity to squeeze-in another night or two for the 2026 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
This prediction is unsupported by recent precedent, but we’re making it anyway. Walt Disney World had the opportunity to add another 2-3 nights to the 2026 MNSSHP and declined to do so, keeping the same number of dates as last year.

Prediction: No Change to Price Range
Last year, MVMCP ticket prices ranged from $169 to $229, with the lowest prices being earlier in the season. Every single date from Thanksgiving week and beyond in December cost at least $199.
It’s actually difficult to predict prices–they skyrocketed a few years ago, but haven’t gone up much since then despite all dates selling out. Walt Disney World could probably increase to a starting price of $199 and a maximum of $269 and still sell out. (Seriously.) We doubt that will happen. Our guess is that they’ll stick with the current range, and just shift the distribution of dates towards the higher end of the spectrum.
This is the approach Disney adopted for the 2026 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. The range is unchanged, but there are more expensive dates and only a handful of cheap ones. The end result is an effective price increase of roughly 6%, despite the range being unchanged. We expect this formula to be followed for the 2026 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

Prediction: First MVMCP Sells Out in September
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party has sold out every single night for each of the last 4 years. This is the ‘new normal’ for Walt Disney World events, even after revenge travel and elevated pent-up demand spending have run their course. It’s not unique to MVMCP, either. Special events and other upcharges sell better now despite most also suffering from staleness and higher prices.
Last year, opening night sold out on September 10, with more dates selling out later that same month, along with many dates in mid-to-late October. Approximately half of the season sold out before the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party season has even started. As a whole, sold out dates in 2025 outpaced the previous year, when a few dates came close to not selling out.
The good news is that, if you’re anxiously awaiting Walt Disney World to release 2026 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates and tickets because you’re worried about it selling out, don’t. MVMCP is not going to sell out within days of tickets going on sale. That applies to both the presale window and the general public window. Many planners get anxious about not having every detail set in stone, but you really don’t have anything to worry about.

Unlike Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, which has seen heightened demand for October 31st, there is no single date that MVMCP sells out of super fast (presumably because MVMCP isn’t held on December 24/25th). The fastest selling dates tend to be opening night, the cheapest dates, and the date closest to Christmas Day.
With that said, the popularity of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party cannot be overstated. Moreover, no conclusions about daytime crowds or overarching attendance trends should be drawn from MVMCP dates selling out–or not selling out.
There are a lot of reasons for MVMCP selling out faster than before. It’s fairly well-established that the popularity of the party is divorced from overall crowd levels, just as is hotel occupancy. Sold out MVMCP or hotels does not equal crowded parks. The bottom line is that Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a fan-favorite, and Americans find money in their budget for Christmas even when cutting back elsewhere.

The bottom line is that we wouldn’t worry about buying tickets on day or week one, but we also wouldn’t take a super laid back approach. Even as Walt Disney World has seen an exhaustion of pent-up demand with pretty much everything else, special events are the one thing that’s still going strong.
That could change, but for now, it’s hard to envision a scenario where the Christmas party is considerably less popular in 2026 than it was last. So long as you buy before the first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in August, which will be roughly a full month after MVMCP tickets go on sale, you should be safe.
